Tucker Convertible on Ebay

I have also seen parts being stamped before asembly as out of the molds and it look here like they were stamped after asembly which made the stamping hard due to mot being able to get it in a good solid surface. Looks like they were trying to stamp it on the air with nothing behind it or not a good grip to what was behind it. If you have ever tried to stamp something or mark with a punch you will know how it work.

After limiting my visits to the Tucker forum here I have come back to a great surprise. Everything posted is wonderful. Look at the wealth of information this convertible has brought to light. If only this information was available years ago.

Tucker- amazing: both the observations you have made and the work you have done to your car. The car you are working on is sure to be a great piece of machinery when you are through. What did you ever wind up using for a frame?

Yes I have done lots of study on this cars and know a lot of each car and where they came from, who owners were and are today and lots more. I have spent 1000s of hours into Tuckers and their history which you may see by my posts here.

On my project I still don't have a frame under the body but have found a kind of car I would love to use for its frame. It have been hard work getting everything to look just right on this project but it is getting there little by little as time go by. The big thing to get something like this done is to always hold on to your dreams and your dreams will come true! and always do what you like and put all your love into it! Remember everyone reading this that if you really hold on to your dreams they come true and don't let nothing stop you even if you have to fight under lightning and tunder. Keep on dreaming and never stop dreaming. I was told many times it was imposible to make a Tucker and look what I have now so far. Nothing is imposible. Keep on dreaming and hold on to your dreams.

Tucker convertible to be "unveiled" this weekend (unfinished of course) at the Keels and Wheels Concours de'Elegance in Texas.

According to an email I got from someone on another message board, the car was displayed (still incomplete) today in Seabrook, TX at the Keels and Wheels boat and car show.

Maybe Mr Blue Egg was out there looking at the car since he have been away for some time. I could just imagine him looking for the 1027 under the 1057. I'm shure he had fun out there picking more new "late Easter Eggs" Maybe another blue or red or green egg!

I know of many easter eggs within most of the late Tuckers and the missing bodies. There are tons along with 1018, 1027, 1052, 1051, 1054, 1055, 1050, and a few more! Why would someone interchange parts and leave parts missing on each car he put together instead of putting them all together except the last?? One part missing here, one there, others on another body all adding up to enough pats to put one body together! But what body did he want to put together? Remember cars go in and go out with parts interchanged and missing parts.

Too many eggs in a circle of people who had this bodies and cars since they left the factory, maybe 3 main persons and one missing real back window car (body) in this circle, just a body that needs parts to be complete and all the parts missing from the other cars completed enough to put one body together!

Personally if I had the pile of parts that they have and knowing all the background of each and every part like some of the folks on this board have posted, I'd scrap the convertible project and rebuild the car as #1027 since it appears to have many of #1027s original parts. Given the history of #1027 and that you could prove by photograph that the parts came from #1027, I think the value of a restored #1027 would be much higher than the "convertible" that never was. Sure not every part would be from the original #1027 but as many here have stated many restored Tuckers have parts from other vehicles but are accepted as "real" Tuckers. Certainly the "convertible" will never be accepted as a real Tucker but a restored #1027 would be.

Can't be much different than what the Kaiser Frazer dealers went through. I know a former Kaiser dealer personally and they drove cars here to their dealerships with half the parts laying in the back seats and in the trunks. Mr. Pryately told me he and 5 drivers drove Kaisers from over by Toledo all the way to the PA state line in winter with no heaters, windshield wiper motors, or instruments hooked up. Doors hanging by one or two bolts, and fenders flapping in the breeze. And that was before the interstates were here. And that was from a car company that was making cars and in business at the time.

Benchmark Classics previewed the Tucker convertible last weekend at the Keels & Wheels Concours in Seabrook, TX. I was allowed to examine the car thoroughly and crawled all over it. Obviously members of the Tucker Club and this board have much more expertise on this subject than I. The quality of the work seems very good, and I was told repeatedly that most components are original Tucker.

It appears to me that at the very least Benchmark has taken a pile of random parts and is creating a very interesting automobile. I have no doubt that the origins of the car will be debated forever. In the mean time we can all enjoy the fact that the Tucker is again on the minds of car enthusiasts everywhere. I also note that this is one of the most popular topics on your board.

We invited the Tucker to Keels & Wheels to enhance ticket sales, which benefits our charities. I'm pleased to report that attendance was at record levels, at least in part due to the Tucker.

Some time back I was forwarded a post on this board regarding my friend (former Tucker and Duesenberg owner) Gary Vick. Gary is my kind of car guy, and I hope some of you read my article about him a couple of years ago in Old Cars Weekly, "Cars are meant to be driven."

Thanks for your post on this subject. I found it interesting that Cole danced around the question as to if the car is a fraud and instead
sited all the original Tucker parts on the car, however, when you asked directly the second time he continued with the fairy tale that
the car is a "convertible" that was started at the Tucker plant. I guess you could call that stretching the truth as much of what he has started out
at the Tucker plant as several different cars and was morphed into the pile of parts Benchmark now has that make up their convertible, but a
convertible #1057 certainly was not started at the plant and as proved by many on this board probably has more parts from # 1027 than it does from
# 1057. Hopefully he'll bring the car to a show near the Chicago area. I'd love to be there for the questions from some of the old timers on this board.

Well, I live in Evanston and have made the trip up to Madison many times to see the car.... it's really not that far.

And again, Justin is not "dancing around the question" of the car being a fraud. He has reported EVERYTHING he knows. IF the car is a fraud, don't point your fingers at Justin or Benchmark. That blame should go to the previous owner (no mentioning names) or Lencki Engineering. Justin is building what he was given, and not making up some story. And when he says it is the "only Tucker convertible" I think we can all agree that he is telling the truth.

Hi, as you have seen the blue rocker on the photos matched very good 100% with Tucker 1027 after the race which you can also see on the Tucker DVD extra. Also most of the panels match with 1027! None this panels or the frame and coul of 1027 are available to this day and what would you say if I can prove to you also the coul on that 1057(27) frame is from the same car all this time?? The frame and coul have always been together as you will find out later and they were all the same car. I have seen the photos!

looks like they blocked it with a board or something where the speedometer and then the plastic cover around it go! Well shure they have a new one and a speedometer that will go in there later. (years ago the dash cover from 1027 was used to make reproduction plastic covers and I own the one from 1027 today That part came out of the same owner that had the convertible when this was done!)

I actually meant the thickness of the steel frame - not the gauge cluster/dash board...
